Serves: 12

Syrup:
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 cup butter

Biscuit Mix:
4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup (plus 2 tbsp.) baking powder
1 cup dry milk
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup shortening

Cameo Cinnamon Apple Sweet Rolls:
6 Cameo apples, peeled and grated
Biscuit mix
1 cup cold water
2 tsp. cinnamon
Ice cream or whipped cream (optional)

 

 

 

 

 

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°
2. Coat 13" x 9" pan with non-stick cooking spray.
3. For syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine all syrup ingredients. Bring to a boil. Stir until butter melts. Set aside; cover to keep hot.
4. For biscuits: Combine dry biscuit ingredients in bowl of food processor. Slowly fold in shortening in 1/2 cup increments.
5. Gently stir water into biscuit mixture until just moistened. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Knead dough about 2 minutes.
6. On a lighly foured work surface, roll dough into 3/8" thick rectangle approximately 20" x 11"
7. Spread grated apples over dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon; roll up in a jelly roll fashion. Cut 12 equal 1 1/2" slices.
8. Place rolls into prepared pan, allowing a little space between rolls. Pur hot syrup mixture evenly over rolls

Bake 45 minutes.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
