Serves: 4
French Toast:
4 eggs
1/3 milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
8 thick slices of bread
2 tbsp. butter, divided
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Cameo Apple Topping:
4 Cameo apples, peeled, cored and sliced
3 tbsp. butter
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
Directions:
1. Beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon together in a large bowl. Soak bread slices in mixture 5 minutes or until saturated.
2. Heat 1 tbsp. butter in large skillet over medium heat.
3. Press each bread slice into nuts to coat, if desired.
4. Cook 2-3 slices until golden brown on each side, turning once. repeat with remaining bread slice, adding butter to skillet as needed.
5. For topping: Heat butter in medium skillet over medium heat until melted. Add apples; cook 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add sugar and cinnamon; cook 2 minutes more or until apples are slightly soft.
Serve french toast slices with hot apple topping.
